At the end of January, we finished a 6-month project to redevelop a new website for Weston College.
Partnering with design agency CoeCreative, we took a look at a look at the good and the bad of the old site together with latest best practice. Our new design which built on the college’s existing branding while providing a fresh and easy to use platform. The new website really showcases one of the most progressive 14-19 education providers in the region.
From a design perspective, this meant clear navigation and content-rich pages. There is clear separation between sections where previously visitors had needed to click a menu link for each little sub-heading. You get to what you want quickly and then keep scrolling as you dive into the content.
Part of the project was to use the latest technology. In doing this, we moved the website from version 7 to version 8 of the Drupal content management system. This was a challenge in itself as Drupal 8 is really a complete rebuild of the platform. We needed to ensure a lot of existing functionality continued to function uninterrupted. This included the integrations to Tribal’s EBS course and student management system and the government’s National Apprenticeship Service,
We’re proud of the result, the college has received good feedback, and we hope you like it too.
